I think I've mentioned before that my friend hosts an awful movie night at his place on a monthly basis. Here's a short list of movies we've watched to date:
- The Room
- After Last Season
- Troll 2
- Birdemic
- Post Impact
- And others!
Most of the ones I've mentioned here have already gotten their fair share of flak from other Internet reviewers. This doesn't mean that I won't take a stab at them too, however.
One movie that seems to keep following me around is The Room. Tommy Wiseau, what have you done? You can't un-see this movie once you've seen it. It sticks in your brain because of all the memorable lines. Please don't get the idea that I'm complimenting the movie, however.
Somehow Wiseau manages to earn your attention as a viewer. I don't know how, maybe there is a certain charm about somebody who seems to be genuinely trying but isn't quite aware of how bad he is and how little he makes sense. I'm sure the man has been asked about every scene in the movie, and somehow he still avoids the sharp arrows aimed at him. He often gives some kind of incomprehensible explanation, and skirts around the question being asked.
Well, what can I say? Of the bad movies we've watched, it's not the most unwatchable of the bunch. I certainly don't think I could recommend it to anyone, but I'm not going to stop you from seeing it either. It has bad acting, useless plot points, redundant and superfluous scenes, and a storyline that frankly doesn't add up.
That's all I'm going to say about this movie right now, but there's a good chance I will be saying more about it in the future.
