If you've caught wind of the fact that I recently upgraded from a Palm Treo to a Sumsung Galaxy S, you've probably surmised that I've been doing a fair bit of my gaming on that platform now. And you would be right.
One of the first games that I played was Krazy Kart Racing. I could easily sum up this game in one sentence and call it a day: Krazy Kart Racing is Konami's answer to Mario Kart. However, while I'm on the subject, I thought I would add a few thoughts.
First off, just the fact that we can play a game with this level of graphics on a cell phone is pretty amazing to me. The graphics are just as good as PlayStation, if not better. The sprites are somewhat blocky (polygonal) admittedly, but if you've seen gaming evolve from 8 bit to the current day, you would still be impressed like me.
I also thought I would say something about the controls. Basically, there is no need to hold down an accelerate button which is nice. You steer by physically turning your device to the left and to the right, which is cool, but can be a little awkward at times. Other than that, you really only need to control the brakes (which you don't use, if you're like me), and the various items you get from the item boxes.
In summary, I wouldn't say that it's a game with a great deal of depth, but it's about as good as Mario Kart. The major difference, of course, is the characters, which have been adapted from various Konami games. Sad to say, they're nowhere near as recognizable as Nintendo's counterparts, but that's not really a negative in my books.
