2. Its Logic is Mind-Boggling
I realize this is supposed to be based on a true story, but the logic leaps they make are on-par with Fun with Dick and Jane, where a couple decides to resort to a life of crime when tough times hit.
Stripping is the only way to make money fast? That sounds a lot like my former dysfunctional roommate, and I wouldn’t want him within a 500 foot radius of planet earth. And yes, he did get into stripping because he didn’t want to go to the oil rigs, and those were the only two options he saw for himself.
Who exactly are we dealing with here? A normal couple burdened with expensive hospital bills? No, I don’t think so.
We’ve got a couple of young people who don’t have any kind of identity. They don’t know who they are, and they’re willing to abandon their so-called “morals” at the drop of a hat.
And before you go telling me they had no morals to begin with, tell me why Kevin laid out a strict set of rules that were immediately violated by both parties?
All to save the girl’s father, right? Why don’t you be the judge after watching it, because that’s not the impression I was left with.
We all give into temptation, that’s human. But a healthy couple with a strong identity and any kind of resourcefulness would probably explore dozens if not hundreds of options before landing on stripping as a potential answer to all of their problems.
